James, Walter Wilfred

Born Hull, 1871. Son of William and Sarah James, of 5, Sarah Ann Terrace, Spyvee Street, Hull. He had two brothers and two sisters.

Married at Hull in 1904. Husband of Maria Taylor Brignall (born 11 Nov 1874), at 11, Granville Avenue, Withernsea Street, Wilmington, Hull (1911 Census and War Pension address). He had one son, Walter Wilfred born on 27 Nov 1907). Worked as a Labourer Fitter (1911 Census)

Served with the Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex) Regiment, Duke of Cambridge’s Own (Middlesex) Regiment, Northumberland Fusiliers and Gunner in the Royal Field Artillery. Discharged on 25 Aug 1916. Died of heart failure and Lobar Pneumonia, due to active service, on 4 Feb 1917, aged 46.
His widow was awarded a weekly war pension of 18/9 shillings.
