HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FORMERLY, Tr/5/110352, 87TH T.R. BATTALION. TRANSFERRED TO THE 1/4TH YORKSHIRE HUSSARS. DIED AS PRISONER OF WAR, ON 26/10/1918, AGED 18. BURIED IN GERMANY.

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON ST MATTHEWS CHURCH, WW1 MEMORIAL, BOULEVARD, HULL WITH HIS BROTHER.

HIS BROTHER, PRIVATE, HAROLD JOHNSON, 11TH EYR, DIED OF WOUNDS IN 1916, AGED 25.

ANOTHER BROTHER, PRIVATE, ERNEST JOHNSON (1893-1929), 79952, NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILERS, WAS DISCHARGED WITH WOUNDS AND AWARDED THE SILVER BADGE NO: B301897. HE DIED IN 1929, AGED 36.
