BORN HULL 1889. SON OF SAMUEL HENRY JORDAN (1846-1904), AND SUSAN HOOPER (1846-1924), OF 240 ST GEORGES ROAD, HULL. THIS WAS HIS ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS. A CLERK. HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 29/06/1915, AGED 25 YEARS AND 7 MONTHS. SERVED WITH THE 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (HULL COMMERCIALS). DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 8 INCHES TALL, 34 INCH CHEST, 133 LBS WEIGHT. HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 16/04/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 8TH BATTALION, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 25/7/1916, AGED 27. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 1 YEAR AND 27 DAYS. A SINGLE MAN. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, SUSAN, WHO MOVED TO 240 ST GEORGES ROAD.
A SINGLE MAN, HE LEFT OLDER BROTHERS, SYDNEY AND SAMUEL AND ELDER SISTER, SUSAN, ALL LIVING IN HULL.
