Kay, Charles William

Born Hull 1893. Hull Pal. Son of John Robert & Dinah Kay, 19 Northumberland Avenue, Hull (War Pension Address). He had a sister Gertrude Kay and Brother Pte. Harold Kay also served.

A single, unmarried man. Before the war Charles Kay was a Paint worker and Keg maker. Enlisted Hull 16/11/1914. Served in Egypt. On the 24/3/1915 was charged for wearing plain clothes in a public place without permission. Arrived France 8/3/1916. Died of wounds, on 19/11/1916, after the attack on Serre, aged 23. Buried at Sains-Les-Marquion. His death was reported in the HDM 22/1/17. His name was recorded on Hull’s Northumberland Avenue Street Roll of Honour. His army effects and war pension were left to his mother, Dinah Kay.
