David William King

Born Hull, 11/04/1889. Son of William Joseph King (1854-1932) and Jane Ann Smith (1857-1935) of Beadle, of Northampton.

Enlisted at Northallerton, on 20/05/1915. Described as 5 foot, 8 inches tall, 38-41 inch chest AND “GOOD” physical development..

Served with the 4th Yorkshire Regiment. Died of a broken pelvis as a result of a train accident, on  14/02/1917, aged 27. Buried at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France.

He married in 1908, aged 19. His first wife Sarah Ann Thompson (1886-1913), died in 1913. They had one daughter, Emily and one son, William. He then married Julia Bessey Rawlings (1897-1945), at Pocklington, in 1915. They one son, Sidney.

His war Pension was left to his widow, Julia and three children, at 23 Parrott Street, Selby Street, Hull (War pension address).
