BORN HULL 1879.  ELDEST SON OF WILLIAM AND MARY ANN LAWSON, OF 216, DANSOM LANE, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS.

MARRIED AT DRYPOOL, CHURCH, 20/10/1900. HIS WIFE MARY ELIZABETH LAWSON LIVED AT 1, COURTNEY STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD THREE SONS, CHARLES, GEORGE AND JOHN.

BEFORE THE WAR WORKED AS FOREMAN FOR MESSRS. BEECROFT & WRIGHTMANS, SAW MILLS, BURLEIGH STREET, HULL. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3 INCHES TALL, 34-36 INCH CHEST, 130 LBS WEIGHT, ANCHOR TATTOO ON LEFT FOREARM

ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS IN NOVEMBER 1914. SERVED IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EYR. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 31/03/1918, AGED 39.

HE IS BURIED AT BOUZINCOURT RIDGE CEMETERY, ALBERT, SOMME, FRANCE.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON HULL’S PORTLAND STREET & GARDEN STREET MEMORIAL. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 19TH APRIL 1918.
