BORN STOCKPORT, CHESHIRE 1888. SON OF THOMAS & MARTHA MADDOCK. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS. MARRIED TO SARAH ANN, AT 49 CHAPEL STREET, CHORLEY, LANCS (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE LEFT MRS HARDY AT 1 OAK VILLAS, DIVISION ROAD, HULL.

HE ENLISTED PONTEFRACT. A REGULAR SOLDIER WHEN WAR BEGAN. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 15/01/1915. SERVED AS LANCE CORPORAL, 8804, 9TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 26/04/1918, AGED 30. COMMEMORATED ON THE TYNE COT MEMORIAL TO THE MISSING.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 02/01/1919.

HIS WAR PENSION, WENT TO HIS WIDOW, SARAH ALICE, WHO MOVED TO 49 CHAPEL STREET, CHORLEY, OLDHAM.
