BORN HULL 1892. ONLY SON OF SARAH & LATE TW MAJOR, OF 18 MARSHALL STREET, NEWLAND AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). BEFORE REJOINING THE TERRITORIALS HE WORKED FOR MESSRS HOLMES & MOORES, UPHOLSTERERS, TERRY STREET, HULL. HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED ON 16/04/1916, AGED 24. HE WAS KILLED WHEN A SHELL EXPLODED IN HIS TRENCH.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 26TH APRIL 1916 WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

HE IS BURIED AT LINDENHOEK CHALET MILITARY CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “TOO DEARLY LOVED TO BE FORGOT”.
