Manley, Francis Cyril Churchill

BORN HULL 14/10/1896. SON OF FRANCIS CHURCHILL MANLEY (1864-1938) & FLORENCE BURHMAM (1867-1936), OF 16 BOW ALLEY LANE, HULL AND “HOLMSLEIGH” HOUSE, DAVENPORT ROAD, HESSLE. (PROBATE ADDRESS). FRANCIS CYRIL CHURCHILL MANLEY JOINED THE ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY AND TRANSFERRED TO THE ROYAL AIR FORCE.  HE DIED IN A FLYING ACCIDENT AT THROWLEY, FAVERSHAM, KENT, ON 11/08/1918, AGED 21. HE LEFT £216 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER.

HIS BROTHER GERALD MANLEY ALSO FLEW FOR THE RIOYAL AIR FORCE. HE CRASH LANDED BEHIND ENEMY LINES AND WAS CAPTURED ON 09/02/1918, AGED 19. HE DIED IN HULL IN 1963. THEIR ONLY SISTER FRANCES FLORENCE MALEY, NEVER MARRIED. SHE DIED IN TWICKENHAM, ON 07/11/1952, AGED 58.

HIS NAME IS RECORDED WITH BROTHER TOM ON THE HESSLE ROLL OF HONOUR, ALL SAINTS PARISH CHURCH.
