WORKED AS A WOOD MACHINIST. LIVED IN HULL. ENLISTED MILL HILL, MIDDLESEX, ON 14/08/1915. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 6 INCHES TALL, 37 INCH CHEST AND 140 LBS WEIGHT. APPOINTED LANCE CORPORAL ON 21/01/1916. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 15/03/1916. SERVED WITH THE 16TH MIDDLESEX REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, AT BEAUMONT HAMEL, ON 01/07/1916, AGED 20. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 322 DAYS. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER GEORGE.
