SERVED AS PRIVATE, 32/900, NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. ARRIVED IN FRANCE IN 1916. SERVED FOR 1 YEAR AND 199 DAYS WITH 135 DAYS SPENT IN FRANCE. DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY, WITH TUBERCULOSIS, ON 27/06/1917, AGED 28 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS. HIS MILITARY RECORDS, DESCRIBED HIM, AS 5 FOOT, 6 INCHES TALL, 124 LBS WEIGHT, 36 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, LIGHT HAIR, ‘GOOD’ CHARACTER, “A STEADY AND SOBER MAN”. HE DIED IN HULL OF TUBERCULOSIS, IN MARCH 1919. A SINGLE MAN. HE LEFT SIBLINGS, GERTRUDE, PERCY, IVY AND FLORENCE.
