BORN HULL 18/08/1899. ONLY SON OF FREDERICK & LUCY ELIZABETH METHAM. LEFT SISTERS ENA & LYNDA AT 5 FRANKLIN AVENUE, FRANKLIN STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). JOINED THE NAVY ON 04/10/1917. TRANSFERRED TO AIR MECHANIC 2ND CLASS. DIED ON  16/07/1918, AGED 18. BURIED AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.
Shirley Hare writes on 16/07/2016 – Firstborn son, Clive Metham, born in 1899 was tragically lost on this date in 1918, aged 18. Clive had entered the Navy and was transferred to the RNAS during the hostilities in WW1 and was killed in the Felixstowe F.2A flying boat N4538, which had been delivered to Felixstowe via Calshot on 5th June 1918. The plane made a heavy landing in the harbour during night flying on 16 July 1918 with the result that 234880 AM2 Thomas Austin Snell (the wireless operator) and 239166 AM2 Clive were both killed.
