BORN HULL 1882. SON OF SAMUEL & MARGARET MOSS, OF 22, WENTWORTH STREET, HULL. AN OIL MILLER. HE WORKED AT WATERLOO CAKE MILLS. MARRIED MINNIE, AT HULL, IN 1910. THEY LIVED AT 10 STRAWBERRY STREET, DRYPOOL, HULL (HDM ADDRESS 23/10/1916,) AND NAYLORS ROW, DRYPOOL (HDM & WAR PENSION ADDRESS 25/09/1917), WITH HIS TWO SONS, JOHN THOMAS AND ROBERT HENRY MOSS.

HE ENLISTED AT THE OUTBREAK OF WAR. SERVED IN THE MACHINE GUN SECTION, 9TH KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. KILLED AT THE SOMME, ON 16/09/1916, AGED 34. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL,

HIS WIFE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM HIM ON THE DAY HE WAS KILLED. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 23RD OCTOBER 1916, AND 25TH SEPTEMBER 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*
