Moulds, Alfred

Born Hull 1888. Son of Charles & Hilda Moulds, at 67 Brunswick Avenue, Hull. Husband of Alice Moulds, of 3, Alexandra Avenue, Bridlington Street, Hull. He worked for the British Gas Light Company. Hull.

he enlisted in Hull as Private Alfred Moulds 12/231. Unit: Machine Gun Section, B Company, 5th Platoon, 12th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment. Served in Egypt and France. Survived the battle at Serre on 13/11/1916. Killed at Oppy Wood, on 03 May 1917, aged 29. He is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France. His name is also recorded on the Clifton Street School, Memorial Board, in Hull.

His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail on 11/02/1919, with his photograph. *

HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE BRITISH GAS LIGHT AND COKE COMPANY WAR MEMORIAL, KEPT AT THE FAKENHAM GAS WORKS MUSEUM, NORFOLK.
