BORN HULL 1899. SON OF WALTER NEWBY AND SARAH ANN HUNT, 75 EDGAR STREET AND THIS CWGC ADDRESS. ONE OF EIGHT CHILDREN FROM A FISHING FAMILY. A FISHERMAN. SERVED AS A COAL TRIMMER ON THE TITANIA. LOST AT SEA ON 11/05/1916, AGED 16, HIS TWO BROTHERS FRED AND LORENZO NEWBY WERE BOTH LOST ON THE MAGNETA TRAWLER. ON 01/02/1922, DURING THE RUSSIAN CIVIL WAR. THEIR FATHER WALTER NEWBY SERVED WITH THE ROYAL NAVY RESERVE THROUGHOUT THE GREAT WAR AND DIED IN 1941.
