BORN HULL 1890. SON OF WILLIAM ALMA NEWMARCH (1856-1910) & AMY EDDISON DICKENS, OF 21 COURTNEY STREET, HULL. ONE OF FOUR SONS. HE MARRIED MAUD ARRAND (1889-1970) AT HULL, IN JUNE 1917. HIS WIDOW MAUD (ARRAND) NEWMARCH, LIVED AT 12 WALLER STREET, HULL. PRIOR TO WAR, HE WORKED FOR 13 YEARS WITH MESSRS M STRACHAN & SONS, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 12TH KING’S OWNN YORKHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY. WAS KILLED AT POPERINGE, ON 23/10/1917, AGED 27. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 6TH NOVEMBER 1917, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *. HIS BROTHER, JOSEPH HENRY NEWMARCH, SERVED IN THE YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, AND SURVIVED THE WAR. HE ALSO LEFT BROTHER IN LAW, JACK ARRAND.
RICHARD NEWMARCH IS BURIED AT NINE ELMS BRITISH CEMETERY, BELGIUM. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “DIED FULFILLING HIS DUTY”
