BORN HULL 1896. SON OF BETSY JANE NICHOLSON (1861-1956) & THE LATE JOHN WILLIAM NICHOLSON (1862-1905), OF 13, PARK CRESCENT, PARK STREET, HULL (CWGC & WAR PENSION ADDRESS). ‘CHARLIE’ WAS A MEMBER OF QUEENS ROAD CHAPEL AND PRIOR TO WAR HAD WORKED FOR AMOS & SMITHS AND RESIDED WITH HIS MOTHER AT 13 PARK CRESCENT, PARK STREET, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. JOINED AS 025748, ROYAL ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 48426, 16TH ROYAL WARWICKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 24/09/1918, AGED 22. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, BETSY. HIS DEATH & PHOTOGRAPH ARE REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 2ND OCTOBER 1918.*
HE IS BURIED AT TERLINCTHUN BRITISH CEMETERY, WIMILLE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “EVER IN THOUGHT FROM MOTHER AND FAMILY”.
