Nicklas, Charles

Born Hull, 1888. Son of Charles and Freda Nicklas, of 18 Wilde Street, Hull. His father was born in Kinslow, Germany and was a local butcher (1911 Census). He had two brothers and five sisters. Employed as a Baker.

Married at Sculcoates, Hull, in 1912. Husband of Florence Nicklas, of 13, Irene’s Avenue, Durham Street, Holderness Road, Hull (CWGC address).

Enlisted at Hull. Served as Private, 202896, 1st Cameronians (Scottish Rifles). Killed in action, on 08/05/1918, aged 29. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.

His two brothers, William and Fred also served in the army during the war.
