BORN HULL 1887. SON OF HENRY (1858-1930) & EMILY BLYTH NORTHARD (1858-1913), OF 4, HENRY’S TERRACE, WASSAND STREET, HULL (1911 CENSUS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND SIX SISTERS. HE WORKED AS A LBOURER AND WAS WELL KNOWN ON HULL DOCKS.

HE MARRIED AT HULL, IN 1909, AGED 21. HUSBAND OF SARA ELIZABETH NOVIS (1889-1971) & FOUR CHILDREN. THEY LIVED AT 14 VICTORIA TERRACE, STANIFORTH PLACE, HESSLE ROAD (1901 CENSUS) & AT 6 FLORENCE TERRACE, WASSAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 01/02/1915. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 3419, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE TRANSFERRED TO THE KING’S OWN YORKSHIRE LIGHT INFANTRY . WOUNDED AT THE SOMME, IN AUGUST 1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 08/07/1917, AGED 30. BURIED IN BELGIUM.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, SARAH ELIZABETH.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 04/08/1917. *
