BORN HULL 1875. BABTISED 27/09/1880. SON OF JOHN AND SARAH OLIVER, OF FINSBURY GROVE, BRIDLINGTON STREET, HULL.

HIS WIFE, ANNIE ELIZABETH NELSON & 4 CHILDREN, LIVED AT 6 FLORENCE GROVE, NORTHUMBERLAND AVENUE, HULL. HE WAS A SISSONS’ PAINT WORKS.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, IN 1914, GIVING THE YOUNGER AGE OF 33. ARRIVED FRANCE AUGUST 1915. SERVED WITH THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION 1ST JULY 1916, AGED 41. HE IS BURIED ON THE SOMME, AT FRICOURT NEW MILITARY CEMETERY.

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE NORTHUMBERLAND AVENUE, ROLL OF HONOUR. His name is also listed on the Finsbury Grove, Roll of Honour, (Hull Daily Mail 29 December 1916).

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE ‘HULL TIMES’ 28/07/1916 & THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 22/07/1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *

HIS WIDOW REMARRIED AFTER HIS DEATH, BECAME MRS READ AND MOVED TO 57, WESTMORELAND STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS).
