Pte, George William Parker, 8th EYR

BORN HULL 1891. ELDEST SON OF HANSELL AND ANNIE PARKER, OF 3 SUTTON TERRACE, HODGSON STREET, HULL. A LABOURER. HE WORKED AT BON ACCORD OIL MILLS, GLASSHOUSE ROW, HULL.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL WHEN WAR BEGAN. WENT TO FRANCE IN 1915 AND WAS WOUNDED. RETURNED TO FRANCE IN OCTOBER 1915. HE SERVED WITH THE 8TH EAST  YORKSHIRE REGIMENT WHEN HE WAS  KILLED IN ACTION, ON 13/11/1916 AGED 25. HE LEFT A WIDOW AT 39 HODGSON STREET, HULL.

HE WAS “MISSING” FOR MANY MONTHS, BEFORE HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 11/01/1918.
