HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED AS PRIVATE, 66462, 1/4TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. HE WAS REPORTED  WOUNDED IN HOSPITAL IN MAY 1918. (HDM 01/05/1918) THEN KILLED IN ACTION, ON 16/07/1918, AGED 19.

HE IS BURIED AT TOURGEVILLE MILITARY CEMETERY, CALVADOS, FRANCE. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION READS, “WHEN I SURVEY THE WONDROUS CROSS”
