Potter, Albert Victor

BORN HULL 24/06/1879. SON OF WILLIAM POTTER (1849-1902) & MARY AUGUSTA LANE (1848-1895). ONE OF SEVEN CHILDREN. HIS FATHER WAS A SAILMAKER FROM BRIXHAM DEVON. HIS MOTHER WAS BORN IN BERMUDA.

HE SERVED IN THE ROYAL NAVAL RESERVE WITH HIS BROTHERS, WILLIAM, JOHN AND ERNEST. HE SKIPPERED THE MINESWEEPER, “RUTHLIN CASTLE”

HIS WIFE MARY LIVED IN NORTHUMBERLAND. HE DIED AT SEA ON 24TH APRIL 1917, AGED 38. HE LEFT £470 IN HIS WILL TO HIS WIDOW MARY, AT 58 CLAVERING STREET, WILLINGTON QUAY, NORTHUMBERLAND. HIS WAR PENSION, WENT TO HIS SISTER, MARY AUGUSTA POTTER, WHO MOVED TO 3 WELBECK AVENUE, FLINTON STREET, HULL.

HIS BROTHER, JOHN LEWIS POTTER, RNR, DIED ON 10/01/1915, AGED 44.
