Proctor, Walter

Born Hull 1896. Son of Abraham Proctor, of 42 Haltemprice Street, Hawthorne Avenue, Hull. Son of a shoemaker. Youngest of eight children, four brothers and three sisters. He was a draper’s errand boy before he enlisted (1911 Census) and a Fireman for the North East Railways. Unmarried. He was 5 foot, 6.5 inches tall, 126 lbs weight, 35-37 inch chest, grey eyes, light brown hair, scar on neck, Church of England religion.

He enlisted at Hull, on 05/09/1914. Posted to France, on 21/07/1915. Served as Rifleman, Walter Proctor, 1438, 12th King’s Royal Rifle Corps. Missing  & believed killed, on 25/09/1915. Reported as died of influenza, in Germany, on 24/11/1918. His army effects were left to his sister, Mrs Annie Robson. His death was reported in the Hull Daily Mail, on 24/11/1919.
