Ringrose, Ernest Appleton

BORN HULL 1892. YOUNGEST SON OF JANE ANN PREDGEN (1854-1954) & CHARLES RINGROSE (1852-1916), OF 21 , CHILTERN STREET, HULL. HE HAD TWO ELDER BROTHERS. HE WORKED AS A GOODS PORTER, WEST HULL FOR THE NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY (NER). HE JOINED THE NER COMPANY IN DECEMBER 1906 AS A SIGNAL LAD AT SCULCOATES.

HE ENLISTED AT HULL. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 265687, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH LINCOLNSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 20/10/1918, AGED 26. UNMARRIED. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOWED MOTHER, JANE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED WITH OTHER RAILWAY WORKERS IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 07/12/1919.

HE IS COMMEMORATED AT ST JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH MEMORIAL, NEWINGTON, HULL.

HIS BROTHERS, SAPPER, CHARLES RINGROSE, 135517, ROYAL ENGINEERS AND PRIVATE, WILLIAM SEPTIMUS RINGOSE, ARMY SERVICE CORPS, ALSO SERVED IN THE WAR.
