WILLIAM WAS AN APPRENTICE PATTERN MAKER & BRASS MOULDER. HE LIVED WITH HIS ELDER MARRIED SISTER, PRISCILLA, AT 4 PARK CRESCENT, PARK STREET, HULL

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 13/07/1915. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 10/07/1916, AGED 20. COMMEMORATED ON THE THIEPVAL MEMORIAL, FRANCE.

WILLIAM’S DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL WITH HIS PHOTO ON 27TH JULY 1916.

HE WAS THE BROTHER OF MRS PRISCILLA ROYSTON. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS SERVING – PTE. THOMAS, EYR; PTE. GEORGE, (KILLED); PTE. JAMES, ASC, AND PTE. HAROLD (INVALIDED HOME FROM FRANCE WITH DEAFNESS). HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS ELDER SISTER, PRISCILLA ROYSTON, AT THIS ADDRESS.
