HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY. FORMERLY, OF THE EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED AS PRIVATE, 241346, TO THE 5TH YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 23/04/1917, AGED 25. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, THOMAS SIMPSON.
