HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 19/10/1914. FORMERLY, PRIVATE, 1778, 2/1ST EAST RIDING YEOMANRY, “B” SQUADRON. POSTED TO SALONIKA. TRANSFERRED TO 3RD EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 21ST SEPTEMBER 1916. HOSPITALISED WITH MALARIA. TRANSFERRED AGAIN AS LANCE CORPORAL, 57233, 12TH CHESHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, IN SALONIKA, ON 03/07/1917, AGED 20. BURIED GREECE.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS MOTHER, AT 37 SOMERSCALES STREET, HULL (PENSION ADDRESS). SHE ALSO LIVED AT 41 SUTTON STREET AND 29, CLARENDON STREET, HULL.
