Southcott, Stanley Creswick

BORN HULL, 1885. ENLISTED BEVERLEY. SON OF MR CRESSWICK GEORGE SOUTHCOTT (1859-1927) & CAROLINE SOPHIA BROADBRIDGE (1849 -1902), STOKE NEWINGTON, BRIDLINGTON. HIS FATHER WAS A JUSTICE OF THE PEACE AND MILITARY CONTRACTOR AT HULL AND LEEDS. HE HAD TWO BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER. HIS WIFE ETHEL SOUTHCOTT LIVED AT 24 ROUNDHAY ROAD, BRIDLINGTON AND IN HULL.

STAN ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY. SERVED WITH THE “HULL COMMERCIALS” – 10TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. HE WAS REPORTED MISSING ON THE 3RD MAY 1917, BUT HIS BODY WAS NOT FOUND UNTIL THE 23RD AUGUST 1917. A LETTER IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 23/08/1917 REPORTS THE FIND.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, EDITH.
