BORN BEVERLEY 1893. SON OF GEORGE FERN SOUTHWICK (1855-1946) & JUNE ELIZA SOUTHWICK (1864-1963), OF 16, EASTGATE, BEVERLEY (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A TANNER’S LABOURER. HE HAD EIGHT BROTHERS AND THREE SISTERS. WORKED AS AN ERRAND BOY.

HE ENLISTED AT BEVERLEY, INTO THE 10TH HUSSARS. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT ARRAS, ON 03/04/1917, AGED 24. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS FATHER, GEORGE.
HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE BEVERLEY MEMORIAL HALL ROLL OF HONOUR AND ON THE BEVERLEY WAR MEMORIAL, MEMORIAL GARDENS.
HIS BROTHER, SAM, 1/4TH YORK & LANCS, WAS KILLED AT THE SOMME, ON 07/09/1916, AGED 27. HIS BROTHER, DAVID SERVED WITH THE YORK & LANCS REGIMENT. HIS BROTHER, ARTHUR SERVED WITH THE ARMY SERVICE CORPS.
