BORN BEVERLEY, 1887. SON OF MAJOR HENRY SPIVEY (1860-1914) AND BETSY ANN SPENCER (1858-1901), OF 10 CHARLOTTE’S BUILDINGS, SOUTH PARADE (1901 CENSUS). HE HAD TWO BROTHERS, GEORGE AND MAJOR AND ONE SISTER, MILDRED.

MARRIED AT HULL, IN 1908, AGED 21. HIS WIFE FLORENCE EDITH SPIVEY (1889-1925) & FOUR CHILDREN, LIVED AT 2, STANLEY TERRACE, SOUTH PARADE, HULL (1911 CENSUS) & 3, FERN AVENUE, BOURNEMOUTH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). THEY HAD FOUR CHILDREN, JOSEPH, FLORENCE, VIOLET AND NELLIE.

HE WAS EMPLOYED LIKE HIS FATHER AS A TANNER’S LABOURER.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 1/4TH EYR. KILLED IN ACTION ON 27/06/1917. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, FLORENCE.

COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE, TO THE MISSING.

HIS NAME IS INSCRIBED ON THE STONE PILLAR MEMORIAL, ST MARYS CHURCH, SCULCOATES LANE, HULL.
