BORN COTTINGHAM 1897. SON OF ROBERT ARTHUR & LOUISA STABELER, OF 246 PARK ROW, COTTINGHAM AND THIS PROBATE ADDRESS. EDUCATED AT HALLGATE SCHOOL, COTTINGHAM. EMPLOYED BY HIS UNCLE, MR SAM JONES, THE PORK BUTCHER, OF  COTTINGHAM AND ALSO WORKED AT THE HULL MARKET PLACE.

HE ENLISTED IN THE 6TH NORTHUMBERLAND FUSILIERS. TRANSFERRED TO THE 21ST TYNESIDE SCOTTISH AND WENT TO FRANCE IN JULY 1916. PROMOTED TO CORPORAL. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, ON 05/06/1917, AGED 20. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE ARRAS MEMORIAL, FRANCE, TO THE MISSIG.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 27/06/1917. *

HE LEFT £63 IN HIS WILL TO HIS MOTHER, LOUISA. HIS ONLY BROTHER, RODNEY NEEDHAM STABELER, DIED IN 1926, AGED 26
