BORN HULL 20/2/1896. SON OF GEORGE BENTLEY & MARTHA TATE, AT THIS NAVAL ADDRESS. A ROYAL NAVY GUNNER. LOST AT SEA, ON 31/05/1916, DURING THE SEA BATTLE OF JUTLAND. HE WAS AGED 18.
HMS Queen Mary was a Queen Mary class Battle Cruiser, lost at the battle of Jutland. At 16.25 Queen Mary exploded and went down in only 90 seconds after probably receiving a hit from the German Battle Cruiser Von Der Tann.
