Taylor, Henry Wright

BORN WALKINGTON, BEVERLEY 1882. YOUNGEST SON OF WILLIAM & MARY TAYLOR, OF 14 LIME TERRACE, CROWLE STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). HE HAD SIX OLDER BROTHERS AND ONE SISTER, ELIZABETH. WORKED AS A LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 6 INCHES TALL, 140 LBS WEIGHT, 37-39 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, DARK BROWN HAIR, ANCHOR TATOO ON RIGHT FOREARM, CHURCH OF ENGLAND RELIGION.

HE ENLISTED IN THE HULL PALS, ON 05/10/1914. SERVED WITH THE 12TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, IN EGYPT AND FRANCE. WOUNDED IN THE THIGH AND THUMB, AT SERRE, ON 13/11/1916. HE WAS TAKEN TO THE 4TH CASULATY CLEARING STATION AND RETURNED TO ENGLAND, ON 23/11/1916. AFTER BEING DISCHARGED FROM THE ARMY. HE DIED OF GUN SHOT WOUNDS TO THE THIGH, AT THE ST JOHNS VAD HOSPITAL, HULL, ON 25/03/1919, AGED 37. HE HAD SERVED IN THE ARMY FOR 4 YEARS AND 172 DAYS.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE SENT TO HIS MOTHER, MARY. BURIED HEDON ROAD CEMETERY.
