Taylor, James William

Born Hull 1897. Son of Jane Smith and the late James Taylor (1857-1904). His father was from Hull and worked as a Corn Porter, on the docks. His mother was born in Leeds in 1858. The family lived at 53 Clifton Terrace, Adelaide Street, (1901 Census) and 66 Eton Street, Hessle Road, Hull (1911 Census)

James William Taylor was a former Clerk, who served as a Driver and then Corporal, in the Royal Field Artillery. He was posted to France, from 20/09/1915. Died of of a fractured skull and wounds to the right leg, at the 2nd General Hospital, France.

His war pension went to his widowed mother, Jane Taylor, a dressmaker, at 66 Eton Street, Hull, (War Pension Address).

His army effects were shared with his three brothers, Joseph, John, Thomas, and three sisters, Ellen Sykes, Florence and Catherine.
