BORN HULL 1894. SON OF HECTOR WELLINGTON TEMPLE (1849-1922), & EMILY ELIZABETH COOPER (1854-1897) ABOVE ADDRESS. ONE OF  SIX CHILDREN  (1911 CENSUS). HIS FATHER WAS A HULL PUBLICAN, AT THE ALBERT DOCK HOTEL, 108 COMMERCIAL ROAD, HULL. HE HAD FOUR BROTHERS AND FIVE SISTERS.

ERNEST WAS EDUCATED AT HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL AND WORKED AS A CLERK.

HE ENLISTED AS A PRIVATE, 12638, IN THE KING’S ROYAL RIFLE CORPS. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 95/05/1916. COMMISSIONED AS A SECOND LIEUTENANT IN THE 2ND/7TH WEST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. DIED OF WOUNDS, ON 08/04/1918, AGED 23.

BURIED AT DOULLENS COMMUNAL CEMETERY, SOMME, FRANCE

HE LEFT £107 IN HIS WILL TO HIS FATHER, LIVING AT 3, AUCKLAND AVENUE, HULL (PROBATE ADDRESS).

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE HULL GRAMMAR SCHOOL MEMORIAL.
