Voakes, Arthur Cyril

BORN HULL 1896. HULL PAL. DOW. SON OF JOHN GEORGE & JANE ELIZABETH VOAKES ABOVE & ANLABY PARK. BEFORE THE WAR HE WORKED FOR J BUSH JEWELLERS. HE HAD BEEN WOUNDED ON THE 19TH JULY BUT WAS RETURNED TO HIS REGIMENT. HE WAS WOUNDED SEVERLEY IN THE STOMACH AND DIED IN HOSPITAL, AGED 19. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 6TH NOVEMBER 1916, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH.*

HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE ANLABY WW1 MEMORIAL, ST PETER’S CHURCHYARD, WILSON STREET, ANLABY.  ALSO ONE OF 12 NAMES LISTED ON THE NORMAN PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH MEMORIAL, HAWTHORNE AVENUE, HULL, UNVEILED, ON 6TH JUNE 1920.
