Walker, James Lunn

Born Lincoln, 1861. He served eight years in the Royal Engineers (Time Expired) and was classed as a “bad” character.

In civilian life was a Hull Dock Labourer. Described as 5 foot, 6.5 inches tall, 138 lbs weight, 39-42 inch chest, blue eyes, brown hair, Church of England religion.

Married at Hull, on 26 Dec 1904.  Husband of Julia Simpson, at 6 Villa Terrace, Barnsley Street, Hull (1911 Census) and 36, Warwick Street, Hedon Road, Hull (War Pension address), They had fur children, Daisey, Rosie, John Edward and Walter.

He enlisted on 1 Oct 1914, aged 55. Served with the 3rd East Yorkshire Regiment. Based in Withernsea. Discharged on 20 Sep 1916, as physically unfit, after 1 year and 356 days army service at home. Died of Heart Failure on 9 Nov 1917. His army effects were left to his widow, Julia. She was awarded a weekly war pension of 28/9 shillings, on 14 Nov 1917.
