THIS CASUALTY WAS REPORTED TO HAVE COME FROM HULL. HE APPEARS IN THE CWGC RECORDS, BUT THERE ARE NO SOLDIERS DIED RECORDS. HE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN BORN AT TODMORDEN, 26/08/1878. SON OF CHARLES WALMSLEY AND MARY JANE CLAY. HE MARRIED ELIZABETH AT SCULCOATES, HULL, ON 15/10/1901. THEY HAD SIX CHILDREN, ALL UNDER 16, AND LIVED AT 19 SALISBURY TERRACE, NORNABELL STREET, HULL (PENSION LEDGER ADDRESS). HE WORKED FOR WADE TIMBER MERCHANTS, VICTORIA DOCK, HULL. SERVED IN THE 13TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT (4TH HULL PALS). WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT SERRE, ON  13/11/1916, AGED 38.

HE LEFT HIS ARMY EFFECTS TO HIS WIDOW, ELIZABETH, AND IS BURIED AT EUSTON ROAD CEMETERY, COLLINCAMPS, FRANCE.
