Born Hull 1874. Son of Alfred Walton (1850-1936) and Elizabeth Watkinson, he worked as a plumber at the age of 17 and lived with his grandmother, Sarah Watkinson.
Married 7 June 1897. Husband of Louisa Holmes Walton (1872-1926), of 5, Pheonix Court, Charles Street, Hull (army address) and 57, Francis Street, Hull (war pension address). They had three grown up daughters, Doris, Phyllis and Alma and one dependent daughter, Frances Louisa Walton (1911-2007).
He had previously served as a Stoker in the Royal Navy Stoker in the Navy. His Wife Louisa & children living in Lambeth, London (1901 Census).
He was later a member of the Royal Naval Reserve and 3rd East Yorkshire Regiment.
He enlisted at Hull, on 22 July 1915, aged 41. Served in the 1st and 3rd East Yorkshires and transferred to 2nd Rifle Brigade. Posted to France, on 3 Jan 1916. Returned to England on 26 Sept 1916. He worked in Munitions as a reserved occupation.

After the war he was an unemployed general dock labourer. He died in Hull, on 26/02/1922, aged 46.
