BORN HULL 1886. SON OF GEORGE WATKIN & MARY ELIZABETH ETHERINGTON, OF 12 PITT STREET, ALBERT AVENUE, HULL. ONE OF ELEVEN CHILDREN. HIS FATHER DIED IN 1915.

HE MARRIED AT HULL, IN APRIL 1913. HIS WIFE ELSIE (BLACKBOURNE) & DAUGHTER PHYLLIS – 13 ROSEBERY STREET, ALBERT AVENUE, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). BEFORE THE WAR HE WAS A SHIPPING CLERK, WITH MESSRS W. TULLEY & COMPANY.

HE ENLISTED IN HULL. FOMERLY, PRIVATE, 20420, EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. TRANSFERRED TO THE 58TH COMPANY, MACHINE GUN CORPS. KILLED IN ACTION ON 21ST MARCH 1918 DURING THE GERMAN SPRING OFFENSIVE. HE WAS AGED 31. HE IS COMMEMORATED ON THE POZIERES MEMORIAL, FRANCE. HE IS REMEMBERED ON THE FAMILY GRAVE AT HULL WESTERN CEMETERY.

HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW, ELSIE.

HE WAS REPORTED MISSING IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 14/05/1918. *
