Etton WW1 Memorial Cross, on Main Street, New Road, Beverley, lists the 50 names of men who served , including 5 who died in WW1

Born Etton, Yorkshire, 1895. Only son of William and Ann Elizabeth Watson, of Etton, Beverley, Yorkshire. He had three sisters, Gertrude, Gladys and Maretta. He worked as Plough Boy On Farm, in Etton (1911 Census).

He enlisted at Beverley. Served as Gunner, 141168, D Battery, 112th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action on 24/03/1918, aged 23. Buried at Bancourt British Cemetery, France. His grave inscription reads, “EVER REMEMBERED”

His army effects were left to his mother, Ann.

He is commemorated on the Etton WW1 Memorial.
