Weaver, Arthur Stephen

BORN HULL 1876. SON THE LATE ANDREW & ISABELLA WEAVER. WIFE MINNIE WEAVER LIVED AT 5 TALBOT TERRACE, BEAN STREET, HULL,. WORKED ON MINE SWEEPING TRAWLERS DURING THE WAR. ALTHOUGH ILL HEALTH MEANT HE HAD TO SEEK WORK ON SHORE.  HE WORKED AS A DRIVER AND CONDUCTOR, ON THE HULL TRAM CARS.  HE WAS INDUCED TO GO TO SEA AGAIN TO IMPROVE HIS HEALTH. SERVED AS A COOK ON THE TRAWLER BARBADOS. ALTHOUGH WAS AN ENGINNER AND HAD BEEN CHIEF ENGINEER ON SEVERAL TRAWLERS. IT WAS HIS SECOND TRIP ON THE “BARBADOS”, WHICH WAS MINED WHILE FISHING, ON 06/11/1920. AGED 44. HE LEFT A WIDOW, A MARRIED DAUGHTER AND TWO CHILDREN AGED 14 AND 12 YEARS. HE DROWNED WITH HIS BROTHER THOMAS, ON THE SAME SHIP.

FV Barbados (H938) was a British registered fishing vessel of 183grt built in 1907 by Earles Shipbuilders, Hull. Presumed mined on 6th November 1920. All hands lost.
