BORN HULL 26/10/1899. ELDEST SON OF FREDERICK WHEELER (1874-1959) & ELLEN (NELLIE) WHEELER, OF, 7 UNITY STREET, LINCOLN (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). SON OF A LABOURER. HE HAD ONE SISTER, EDNA AND THREE YOUNGER BROTHERS, FREDERICK, FRANK AND WILFRED. EMPLOYED AS A FOUNDRY LABOURER. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 3.5 INCHES TALL, 101 LBS WEIGHT, 32-35 INCH CHEST, AND “POOR” PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT.

HE ENLISTED IN LINCOLN, ON 04/05/1914. POSTED TO FRANCE, ON 26/01/1915. SERVED WITH THE 2ND LEICESTERSHIRE REGIMENT. WOUNDED IN THE CHEST, ON 30/04/1915. KILLED IN ACTION, AT LOOS, ON 25/09/1915, AGED 15.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL.
