BORN HULL 1889. SECOND SON OF CHARLES JAMES & FLORENCE MARY WILLIAMS, OF 24 LEE STREET, HULL (CWGC ADDRESS). HE ENLISTED IN HULL. SERVED WITH THE 2ND DURHAM LIGHT INFANTRY. TAKEN PRISONER ON THE 21ST MARCH 1918, AFTER TWO AND HALF YEARS ACTIVE SERVICE IN THE FIELD. HE DIED OF DYSENTERY. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL, ON 10/12/1918. HIS DEATH WAS ALSO REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON THE 13TH DECEMBER 1918, WITH HIS PHOTOGRAPH. *
HIS FOUR BROTHERS ALSO SERVED DURING THE WAR. HE WAS ONE OF TWO SONS KILLED IN THE WAR. HE IS BURIED AT BERLIN SOUTH-WESTERN CEMETERY, BRANDENBURG, GERMANY. HIS GRAVE INSCRIPTION, READS, “LEST WE FORGET LEST WE FORGET”
