BORN HULL 1888. SON OF JAMES WINDAS (1865-1925) AND MARY HARDWICK (1860-1935), OF 1 VANCOUVER CRESCENT, ALEXANDRA ROAD. HE HAD THREE BROTHERS AND TWO SISTERS. A LABOURER. HE MARRIED TABITHA ANN LOFT, AT ST STEPHENS CHURCH, HULL, ON 26/12/1914. THEY LIVED AT 7 ELIS AVENUE, ARUNDLE STREET, HULL (ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS).

HE ENLISTED IN HULL, ON 13/05/1916, AGED 28 YEARS AND 330 DAYS. DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT, 2 INCHES TALL, 34 INCH CHEST, 114 LBS WEIGHT. ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 14/10/1916. POSTED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT. KILLED IN ACTION, ON 20/04/1917, AGED 29. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW TABITHA AND DAUGHTER, LILY.
HE IS BURIED AT FEUCHY CHAPEL BRITISH CEMETERY, WANCOURT, FRANCE.

HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 22/04/1918.
