Anderson, Ernest Lumley

BORN HULL 1888. SECOND SON OF SARAH A & WILLIAM ANDERSON, OF 40, ST ANDREWS STREET, HULL. HUSBAND OF DAISY (ALLEN) AT 19 , BROUGHAM STREET, HULL. SECOND OFFICER OF A MERCHANT VESSEL, TORPEDOED ON 17/02/1917. HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HULL DAILY MAIL ON 1ST MARCH 1916. HIS NAME IS LISTED ON THE TRINITY HOUSE SCHOOL, GREAT WAR MEMORIAL, GEORGE STREET, HULL.
SS Okement, built by W. Pickersgill & Sons, Ltd., Sunderland in 1915 and owned at the time of her loss by James Westoll, Sunderland, was a British steamer of 4349 tons. On February 17th, 1917, Okement with a cargo of coal & general cargo, was sunk by the German submarine U-64 (Robert Moraht), 140 miles SExS of Malta. 11 persons were lost.
