HIS WIDOW, ELIZA BALDWIN AND FOUR CHILDREN LIVED AT 16, SCARBOROUGH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESS). A FISH DOCK LABOURER. HE MARRIED ELIZA COWLING, IN OCTOBER 1907. LIVED AT 28, DORSET STREET, HULL, (1911 CENSUS ADDRESS), 21, ETON STREET, HULL AND 16, SCARBOROUGH STREET, HULL (WAR PENSION ADDRESSES). TWO CHILDREN. LOST AT SEA ON TRAWLER ‘LUCKNOW’, 18/05/1917. HIS NAME WAS LISTED IN ST BARNABAS WW1 ROLL OF HONOUR BOOK.
Lucknow, built by Cook, Welton & Gemmell, Beverley in 1903 and operated at the time of her loss by Royal Navy, was a British navy trawler of 171 tons. On May 18th, 1917, Lucknow was sunk by a mine from the German submarine UC-36 (Gustav Buch), off Portsmouth, 2 miles west of the Owers lightvessel. 9 persons were lost.
