BORN HOLLYM, YORKS, 1891. SON OF JOHN BOASMAN (1846-1923) & SARAH ANN BOASMAN (1854-1927), OF HOLLYM, WITHERNSEA. ONE OF NINE CHILDREN, AND SON OF A FARMER IN PATRINGTON. HE WORKED IN HULL FOR THE COUNCIL’S HEALTH DEPARTMENT. HE ENLISTED ON 10/12/1915, AGED 24 YEARS AND 11 MONTHS. HIS WIFE HARRIET MAY BOASMAN, AND DAUGHTER HARRIET (BORN 20/12/1915) LIVED AT THIS ARMY RECORDS ADDRESS. HE WAS DESCRIBED AS 5 FOOT 11 INCHES TALL, 147 LBS WEIGHT, 37 INCH CHEST AND ‘GOOD’ PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT. HE ARRIVED IN FRANCE, ON 13/07/1916. TRANSFERRED TO THE 7TH EAST YORKSHIRE REGIMENT, ON 02/08/1916. HE WAS KILLED IN ACTION, AT ARRAS, ON 12/05/1917, AGED 26. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE LEFT TO HIS WIDOW HARRIET, WHO LATER MOVED BACK TO THE COTTAGE, RIMSWELL, WITHERNSEA. HE LEFT BROTHERS, ERNEST, LAWRENCE, WILLIAM, FREDERICK AND HARRY BOASMAN, AND SISTER, MARY ELLEN BOASMAN. HIS OTHER BROTHER, GUNNER, EDGAR BOASMAN, ROYAL FIELD ARTILLERY, WAS KILLED IN FRANCE, ON 27/08/1918, AGED 33. THE BROTHERS ARE THE ONLY BOASMAN CASUALTIES OF THE WAR.
