BORN BRIXTON 1881. SECOND SON OF WALTER & SUSANNAHOF 245 ALLIANCE AVENUE, HULL. HIS BROTHERS WALTER BOWERS LIVED AT 202 ALLIANCE AVENUE AND MILTON BOWERS AT 3 ACKLAND STREET, ALBERT AVENUE, HULL. HIS SISTER BEATRICE LIVED AT 245 ALLIANCE AVENUE.
HE WORKED FOR THE HULL AND BARNSLEY RAILWAYS AT ALEXANDRA, AS A DOCK WORKER. HE MARRIED AT NEWINGTON CHURCH, HULL, ON 26/02/1905. HIS WIFE MARIA HILL BOWERS & FIVE CHILDREN LIVED AT 4 PITTS TERRACE, HOTHAM STREET, HULL.
HE ENLISTED AT HULL, ON 24/10/1914, JOINING THE ROYAL GARRISON ARTILLERY. HIS ARMY RECORDS DESCRIBED HIM, AS 5 FOOT 10 INCHES TALL, 152 LBS, 35.5 INCH CHEST, BLUE EYES, FAIR HAIR AND FRESH COMPLEXION, A SCAR ON LEFT KNEE. POSTED TO FRANCE ON 31/08/1915. DIED OF HEART FAILURE, PROBABLY AGGRAVATED BY INTENSE COLD, ON 07/02/1917, AGED 36. HE WAS WELL RESPECTED BY HIS OFFICERS AND COMRADES.
HIS DEATH WAS REPORTED IN THE HDM ON 28/02/1916; 03/03/1917 & 06/03/1917. HIS ARMY EFFECTS WERE RETURNED TO HIS WIFE. HIS WIDOW MARIA AND CHILDREN LATER MOVED TO 2 ROYAL COTTAGES, BELLE VUE STREET, FILEY.
